Best mixer!
I had a kitchen aid classic for over 30 years. Never failed me. I needed a larger capacity for big batches of bread dough and baking in general. This is a work horse. It is made it the USA which to me is a real plus. Creating jobs for people who are paying taxes and supporting the country is a good thing. The warranty is the best, the customer service is second to none. Do not hesitate to invest in the best. It is worth it.

Powerful !
This stand mixer is not only classically beautiful but is also powerful! I enjoy making bread and expect this mixer to last a very long time while helping me to quickly make great bread. I would caution everyone that makes this purchase to closely follow the specific directions for proper settings for the type of food you are preparing. This company has been in business for 100 Years!

Outstanding- also bought a 5qt and 3qt bowl
I wanted this for making bread on a regular basis, but was concerned that the 7Qt size would be too huge. Not at ALL. I got a 5QT bowl (Model: KSMC5QBOWL) and a 3QT bowl with combi whisk (Model: KN3CW). Best decision EVER. I leave the 7QT bowl on the mixer, and the 3qt bowl nests inside the 5Qt and the extra bowls are stored in the cabinet. When I need to make a large batch, I use my 7QT bowl. If I need a small batch, I use one of the smaller bowls. Sometimes I’m making a recipe and I’ll use two bowls - example, one for batter, and a smaller bowl for whipping cream. It’s so convenient having extra bowls of varying sizes. I was concerned that I’d miss having a tilt head. That’s not a problem. Actually, it saves space. The 7Qt fits right under the cabinets. I don’t have to pull it out to have extra room in order to accommodate the tilt head. Plus, a bowl lift mixer (7QT Pro) is more sturdy than a tilt head (Artisan). Finally, this is quieter than my old Artisan. But, the 7QT Pro has more power (1.3HP) than my Artisan (325watts). I love my 7QT Pro and it was worth every penny. I gave my 5QT Artisan to my sister who doesn’t make bread or cook frequently. I use the 7QT Pro for everything. And, the 7QT Pro can handle anything! It’s amazing. I wish I had bought the 7QT Pro first, and never bought the Artisan. You won’t need to waste money “upgrading” in the future if you just spend the extra money now and get the 7QT Pro. You’ll never need another mixer. And, since the 7QT Pro has all metal gears inside the housing (the Artisan has plastic) and the 7QT Pro has a better drive train, the 7QT Pro will last for many more years than the Artisan. Just buy it. You’ll be glad you did.

America’s Test Kitchen says it’s the best. For smaller tasks, I ordered a 5QT bowl that is compatible with the Pro 7Qt. There’s also a 3qt bowl with Combi whip that’s compatible. So, I can do it all: large batches, stiff doughs, small batches... what’s not to love?!?
Tamara R on Jan 19, 2019
Time for a new one. My 6qt is 15 years old and still works fine but I need a bigger size and I liked what I read on the reviews about this one not wiggling on the counter, being quiet and not having a smell if it's operating for long time periods.

My much loved and much used (8 years) KitchenAid Mixer has just developed a problem that will be very costly to repair. This model with a 7 qt capacity and all the other virtues cited on its reviews has led me to decide to get this mixer to replace my current one. Sur La Table's price reduction on this mixer has made the decision easy. I look forward to baking with it!

America’s Test Kitchen gave this model a top review for use and durability. The Classic Plus was also in contention, but I’ve seen reviews noting that it’s whisk attachment can have a problem. I normally hand mix and hand knead, but with arthritis developing in my hands and neck I know this will be a great help and should stand up over time.

I've been using this for about a month. The mixer makes a high-pitched noise when it's running. Also, on speeds higher than 2, it makes a clicking noise. Is this normal?
Jodie W on Jun 18, 2015
BEST ANSWER: According to KitchenAid Customer Service, the clicking noise is normal, but the high pitched noise is not.
Are there any smaller size bowls that are compatable with this model?
laurie S on Aug 18, 2014
BEST ANSWER: I have this model and there are smaller bowls available. Call kitchenaid and they will send you the link on their website.

What is the difference between this 6500 mixer and the Pro-Line 7 quart. Besides the capacity, what is the difference between the two? Trying to decide whether the price difference is worth it.

KitchenAid® Pro Line® Stand Mixer, 7 qt.
KitchenAid® 6500 Series Stand Mixer, 6 qt.
KitchenAid® 6500 Series Stand Mixer, 6 qt.
BEST ANSWER: I see 3 differences between the two mixers. The 6500 has 1. horse power and a smaller bowl which is glass. The Proline 7 qt. has 1.3 horsepower, the larger stainless steel bowl (which I like) and it also comes with a 2 yr. warranty, which is always good. I'm happy my Proline mixer. Hope this helps you.
Can you please verify the maximum width by measuring it?

Other sources and versions of this 7qt mixer are actually not that wide. 13.25"" wide will not fit on my mixer lift
A shopper on Nov 27, 2012
BEST ANSWER: The verified dimensions of this 7-qt. mixer are as follows.; 16" h x 14" l x 13" w.
I have a really hard time getting the bowl in place. It takes a lot of force to set the bowl into the bowl support once the bowl is lined up with the pins. Is this normal and will it get easier with more use?
Candice on Sep 5, 2014
BEST ANSWER: I have owned this mixer for about three years. In my experience, it does take a fair amount of force to set the bowl in place, and it has not gotten easier with more use. But I have found that if I first make sure to align and then insert the two (female) tabs on the sides of the bowl into the two (male) pins on the mixer, and then click the bowl in (and the clicking action is very positive and firm), it hasn't been a problem. I like the fact that the bowl is VERY secure when it is clicked in.
I wish to know if this mixer could come with 220 volts electric engine instead of 110 volts? I dont live in USA and I dont want to use an external transformer for power supply. Thanks.
Mariela on Sep 20, 2014
BEST ANSWER: No, this mixer is only available in 110V.
Does Sur la Table include the pouring shield? I've seen other stores that have included it but don't see it listed here.
Amy S on Oct 18, 2015
BEST ANSWER: We received the shield when we ordered the stand mixer. It was included.
Can I get a glass bowl for this mixer? If not can I get an extra stainless steel bowl for my Kitchenaid Pro line mixer?
Judy D on Jul 19, 2015
BEST ANSWER: They don’t make a glass bowl that fits the 7QT Pro. But, I have two extra bowls. A 5QT stainless bowl (Model: KSMC5QBOWL) and a 3QT stainless bowl with included combi whisk (Model: KN3CW). I love having the flexibility of extra bowls of varying sizes. The 3QT combi bowl nests inside the 5qt bowl and I just Store those under the cabinet. Get extra bowls... you’ll be glad you did. And, don’t worry about not having a glass bowl... at least your stainless bowls won’t shatter!
What is the warranty?
A shopper on Sep 1, 2016
BEST ANSWER: It has a 5 yr. warranty.
Do the available whisk attachments work for this mixer?

Will any of the whisk attachments offered on the site fit this mixer?
A shopper on Oct 27, 2012
BEST ANSWER: This mixer comes with a wire wire whip attachment in addition to a flat beater and a dough hook. There are currently no additional attachments available for this mixer and the ones listed on this site are not interchangeable with any Kitchen Aide. They will only work on the KitchenAid KSM90 and K45 Stand Mixers.
Does the mixer head tilt backwards for easy access to mixing bowl?
A shopper on May 10, 2019
BEST ANSWER: No, but the bowl can be moved up or down providing the same type of access to the mixing bowl as other KitchenAid styles. We’ve had both and have had no problems with this functionality.
I am highly interested in purchasing a KitchenAid Mixer - especially the Pro Line, but I after research and reading reviews, I am very weary of getting one that makes clicking noises. Does the one you purchased from Sur La Table make the clicking noise? Were you able to resolve it?
Gauri S on Aug 21, 2016
BEST ANSWER: No clicking, no problems! I just bought my 7QT Pro in Jan 2019. I’ve made heavy bread doughs, cake batters, all sorts of things and have had no problems with any clicking noises or any other problems. It’s a dream machine! I highly recommend it! Also, it has 1.3HP compared to the 325watts of an Artisan. The 7Qt Pro has a better drive train than the Artisan. And, the 7QT Pro has all metal internal gears. I owned an Artisan before buying the 7QT Pro. But, the Artisan couldn’t handle heavy doughs on a regular basis. The 7QT Pro can handle anything. I gave my Artisan to my sister who rarely bakes and I use my 7QT exclusively. It’s built very well and I’ve had no problems.
Hi, does it beat white egg easily in a sense that usually the whip turns to far from the bowl and the egg is almost not touched ? thanks
A shopper on Jan 28, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I have not had any problem whipping 4 or more egg whites. But for one or two egg whites I would recommend the kitchenaid 3.5 qt. I purchased this and find I use it a lot for small batches of cookies, cakes and beating one or two egg whites. I also use the spiralizer on the smaller mixer.
Where can I get another flat beater attachment for this mixer?
A shopper on May 31, 2015
BEST ANSWER: My best advice is to go directly to the KitchenAid website and look for attachments from the "Stand Mixer" link. It is possible that a kitchen store which carries this item, like "Sur la Table", would also have the attachment available.
Can you knead pasta with the Pro Line Stand Mixer?
A shopper on May 28, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Absolutely! I find that it makes the entire process much easier than kneading by hand. I find the most effective way is the begin mixing with the paddle then change to the dough hook once the dough starts to come together.
Can I mix bread dough with this mixer?
A shopper on Dec 8, 2013
BEST ANSWER: Absolutely! This is what this mixer was designed for. Whether high hydration or low hydration, this mixer is fantastic. Just be sure to knead on stir or #2 and pay attention to your dough and the machine. The motor is very quiet and the machine is unlike any Kitchenaid mixer currently being sold
Can I purchase an additional 7 quart bowl for this mixer?
Mary A on Dec 1, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Yes, you can. Buy it from Kitchen Aid’s website or Amazon. I have two additional bowls: a 5QT stainless bowl (Model: KSMC5QBOWL) and a 3QT stainless bowl with included combi whisk (Model: KN3CW). Best decision ever. I love having the flexibility of extra bowls in varying sizes. The 3QT combi bowl nests inside the 5QT bowl for storage.
Will this 7 qt. stand mixer become available in any other colors?
A shopper on Oct 3, 2012
BEST ANSWER: As you can see now yes
Which models/colors are NSF rated?
A shopper on Jul 26, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I don’t know about models/colors other than the silver, 7 qt., Pro-Line model that I purchased. It’s very rugged and can handle any bakery mixing job you wish to throw at it. Plus, it comes tested, inspected, analyzed, compared and whatever else scrutinizers can dream up to challenge this tools ability to get the job done!
