Well-worth the money!
We had tried several egg poaching pans and in frustration, we decided to buy this one though rather pricey. It was well-worth it. So easy to use and the eggs come out perfect each time. We found 3 1/2 minutes made the eggs exactly like we like them. A wonderful product!!!.

Ceramic Inserts in Mine
I highly recommend this egg poacher. Mine came with ceramic inserts and they work great. Why not just replace the non-stick with ceramic? Use as many as needed to feed a crowd. Mine is a Demeyere-Resto. I have had it a very long time and it looks new.

Worth every cent!!!
Perfect poached eggs every time - really - every single time and not a bit of the white is lost as in doing them the original way. The only thing is the timing in the instructions is way off. I've found 3 minutes, 50 seconds gives me the perfect poached egg. You will need to try a couple times to see how long it takes for you, but that's a one time deal. I've tried tons of poaching pans and electric gadgets and not a one worked well. I decided to try one more time with this pan as I liked the design. Very sturdy, extremely well made. I'd give it 100 stars if I could!

Great piece, worth the price
I’ve probably cooked in this pan 30+ times since I purchased it. High, high quality pan and cups. Would highly recommend for anyone. Cups large enough to hold “extra large” sized eggs with a little room.

MADE IN INDONESIA?

Is this a misprint? All my other Demeyere does not say ""made in India"" they are made in Belgium and the Demeyere name is on both the pan and handle. Why is this different? Also, the construction. It says 5 layer. Does the 5 layer extend all the way up the side of the pan or does it only cover the bottom disc
A shopper on Feb 12, 2013
BEST ANSWER: Yes, this egg poacher is made in Indonesia. It is part of the Resto line from Demeyere. Demeyere carries several different lines of cookware, all at different price points. This is a specialty piece from the Resto line, offered at a lower price point, and is made in Indonesia rather than Belgium. It still has the welded handles for hygiene and the 5 layers go all the way up the sides.
How many quarts is the 4-cup egg poacher sauce pan?
A shopper on Feb 6, 2012
BEST ANSWER: For world-class eggs Benedict and other brunch specialties, you need to start with superbly poached eggs. Using this peerless Demeyere poacher, you will get consistently great results. Includes four detachable nonstick eggcups. The sauté pan and its matching tempered glass lid can also be used without the stainless steel insert for sauces, vegetables, grains or melting butter.

?Capacity: 4.8 qt.
?Dimensions: 7" x 6¼"
Can the individual egg cups be replaced?
A shopper on May 12, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I guess you would have to ask the manufacturer. We have had the larger sized pan for years and it has been extremely durable with no signs of wear on the coating on the cups
Does the Demeyere stainless egg poacher work well on induction cooktops?
A shopper on Jan 28, 2014
BEST ANSWER: Yes, this egg poacher is induction compatible
Are the cups metal?

I have a poacher with plastic cups. It is very hard to cook the white at the bottom of the cup without overcooking the egg. Currently to come close to making it work, I need to put too much water in the pan and cook the eggs with the top off for about two minute
A shopper on Mar 11, 2013
BEST ANSWER: yes, the cups are metal, non stick on the interior and beautiful stainless on the outside. I wiped the cups with a small amount of butter to coat the cups, and the eggs came out beautifully
To cook two eggs, shall I remove the other two cups from the pan, or leave all four cups in the pan?
Yvonne E on Sep 22, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I really don;t think it makes a lick of difference. If you poach two eggs and leave the other two holes open, you will allow mor steam from the water below to accumulate on the lid of the pan and moisten the eggs you are poaching. Try it both ways and see what you like. I love my pan, use it often
Can you put the cups in the dishwasher? Also, how heavy is the pan? (Purchasing it for grandpa...)
Soraiya V on Mar 10, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I love this egg poacher, (And I am a 76 year old GrandPa myself. This poacher is well made, and easy to clean. The non stick coating on the cups work very well I just put a light coating of butter in each cup and drop in the egg. Poaching time is approximately 4 minutes when dropped into boiling water. Really, there is no need to put them into the dishwasher. They clean up easily with just a little soap on a sponge and a rinse. However, I see no reason you could not put them in a dishwasher, I just have never seen the need. Happy Poaching.

The photo of the poached eggs seems like the yolks are quite "set". I like my poached eggs with set whites but runny yolks. Will this egg poacher accomplish this?
A shopper on Mar 25, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Absolutely. I am just about to buy my third one of these poachers. Just love it. Actually the picture is not quite representative of the cooked egg as some of the white of the egg gets cooked over the yellow. You can cook the eggs as long as you want to get the right consistency. Being British I like to have baked beans with my eggs and they fit nicely in one of the cups also.
What's the volume capacity of the cups?
A shopper on Aug 27, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I easily use Jumbo eggs.
Is the pan heavy material.? I like my pans heavy and of good quality.
A shopper on Feb 17, 2019
BEST ANSWER: This is absolutely of high quality. I looked at many egg poachers and they were too lightweight, cheap feeling. So this one looked much better, and I was SO thrilled when we received it. My husband and I use it often, and still marvel at the quality. it works great! And easy cleanup too - just remember to grease the cups before adding the eggs!
how much water is placed in the pan for poaching?
A shopper on Jun 12, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I don't thin there's a specific amount. I live at a high altitude with a dry climate so it takes longer to boil things and water evaporates quickly. I recommend just experimenting. It won't matter if you put in more water than is needed--just don't use so much that it over flows or so little that it cooks dry. Then monitor until eggs are cooked to the desired amount of hardness.
What is the exact material that the egg cups are made up of?
R K on Jan 3, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Your answer can be found on the Demeyere inforamtion link under Technologies:

Excalibur® coating
The Excalibur non stick coating has very good non stick properties and is very strong. Excalibur is based on an additional hard layer of stainless steel between the stainless steel of the pan and the Teflon layer. It is much harder than the traditional non stick layers (based on an aluminium intermediate layer) but not suitable for the use of knife and fork. The four steps in the Excalibur coating process are:

1. The surface is roughened first to provide better adhesion of the other components of the coating process.

2. Then comes the most important part: glowing hot particles of a special stainless steel are sprayed over the rough surface.

3. The particles cool down, toughen and adhere to the surface. They form a series of “peaks and valleys” that are a permanent base for the non stick layer.

4. Different layers of hard fluorpolymers fill the valleys and cover the tops and are constantly kept in place by the special stainless steel “tops”.
Is the Demeyere Stainless Egg Poaching Pan including cups dishwasher safe?
Kim B on Feb 21, 2017
BEST ANSWER: According to the care instructions in the booklet, "All parts of this egg poacher can be washed in warm water and detergent, or in the dishwasher. It is better to wash the cups by hand." Personally, I prefer to hand wash all parts. I always wipe the inside of the cups with cooking spray prior to using, and they clean up very easily.
How to use. No instructions included?
A shopper on Apr 27, 2016
BEST ANSWER: This poacher is very easy to use. I just put a light coating of butter in each cup and drop in the egg. You can add seasoning before or after cooking. I use about an inch of water in the bottom of the pan. Bring the water to a boil and drop in the egg cups in the egg cup holder into the boiling water, then cover.
Poaching time is approximately 4 minutes when dropped into boiling water. Time will vary depending on the size of the eggs and desired doneness. I find 4 minutes, plus or minus a few seconds usually yields a poach egg with whites firmly cooked and yokes still on the runny side, just the way I like them. Hope this helps.
can I use large eggs?
A shopper on Jun 15, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Yes, I have had no problem using large eggs in this. Great product - since buying it, 2 of my friends have bought the same item.
Does this pan work on an induction stove top?
A shopper on Mar 10, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Yes. If you look on the bottom there are engraved markings on what stove types it works on and induction is included.
How long do you cook the eggs in a poacher?
A shopper on Oct 23, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Cook eggs about 3-5 minutes, depending on how firm you want the eggs to be.
Where can I buy extra egg cups for this pan?
Ann S on Nov 29, 2018
BEST ANSWER: You will have to contact the manufacturer, Sur La Table does not sale replacement cups.
Does it have PFOA?
A shopper on Oct 31, 2018
BEST ANSWER: The Individual cups do you have some kind of coating but I am in certain as to the exact type. Might check with manufacturer. Very happy with product.
Someone mentioned that theirs came with ceramic inserts instead of the teflon ones. Where can I get these ceramics ones from?
A shopper on May 13, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Mine came with teflon cups. You would probably be best to call a store or bring one of the cups in to see if they have a replacement that would work.
Is the nonstick Teflon, which emits chemicals when you cook?
Gloria C on Sep 15, 2018
BEST ANSWER: It is a PTFE coated 18/10 stainless-steel interior that will not react with foods.
Is this Part of the Industry5 or Atlantis line?

Is this related to the Industry5 or Atlantis lines? I love my Industry5 cookware and don't want to add a piece that does not have the same features.
A shopper on Dec 5, 2012
BEST ANSWER: For world-class eggs Benedict and other brunch specialties, you need to start with superbly poached eggs. Using this peerless Demeyere poacher, you will get consistently great results. Includes four detachable nonstick eggcups. The sauté pan and its matching tempered glass lid can also be used without the stainless steel insert for sauces, vegetables, grains or melting butter.

This egg poacher is part of the Atlantis line and not the Industry 5 line. The only difference visually would really be that the handles are not textured. Functionally this egg poacher is far superior to any other I have seen. Industry 5 does not currently have an egg poacher in its line.
