Interior finish...
While I love using it, after the second use when I hand washed it - carefully - the interior finish seems to have some random color changes. Not sure if this is normal but there seems to be some gray spots I’ve used it once since then and same thing happened. Not sure if this is normal or not??

Named Well! Perfect
This IS a perfect pan like it's name says! I have cooked a few things so far and love how well it crisps up meats and grilled cheese etc. I love how it cooks and also love the color of the pan! There is nothing like cooking/braising/simmering in this enameled cast iron pan. Love that it comes with the lid. I got it on sale and very happy with the price for that reason. If I could improve it at all in my mind----I would only have the bottom of the pan wider with the sides staying the same. I like the high sides for volume but would like the flat bottom larger across for more area to brown/braise. I love this pan! If you are on a budget get it on sale----but get it!!

Connie S on May 8, 2019
I have two Staub dutch ovens & I very impressed with the quality and performance. I was looking for a rounded bottom pan, and I felt this would be good a option. I have & love both Le Creuset (Soleil, Cerise & Sea Salt) and Staub (Red & Grenadine) enameled cast iron, and I like mixing the colors, so on this one I am trying the French Blue. I have several pieces of cast iron that were my grandmothers, & I look forward to passing them along as well as my new enameled cast iron to my own family.
Amy B on May 8, 2019
Liked the color and size and have other cookware by Staubb.
marilee m on May 7, 2019
well it is called the perfect pan for a reason...
KATHRYN G on May 7, 2019
Hoping this will work for wok-style cooking but take up less room than my traditional wok and serve other cooking purposes too. Staub wok is much higher priced but also cast iron like this pan, which will take longer to heat fully than thinner traditional steel woks.

I wanted a wok and really like my Staub 4.5 qt. dutch oven (for baking bread) and a braiser with grill-pan top. So thought I'd take a chance on the perfect pan. Time will tell if it, too, is a winner.
ROBYNE C on Apr 14, 2019

Theresa K on Apr 14, 2019
Purchased the perfect pan as a gift. We have enjoyed the performance of our Staub La Cocotte 7 qt pot and use it frequently.
Peter D on Apr 14, 2019
Size of pan for everyday meals and glass top. I already have a brazier that I love but with a solid iron top. This one is better for stove top use.
THEON B on Apr 13, 2019
appears to be 'wok' like in design and should be good for a number of recipes which require a large area for tossing/stirring.

How does this compare with the Staub steam griddle?
virginia b on Apr 30, 2017
Staub Perfect Pan, 4.5 qt.
Staub Perfect Pan, 4.5 qt.
Staub Steam Griddle, 12
Staub Steam Griddle, 12"
BEST ANSWER: I have the Perfect Pan - it's fairly deep and more wok shaped. it has a good volume capacity but the bottom of the pan is fairly small so you wouldn't be able to use like a griddle at all. Depends on your goal for this pan I would think.
How much does this pan weigh?
A shopper on Mar 4, 2014
BEST ANSWER: This pan weighs 9lbs 3oz, or 9.2lbs
glass lid

What is the maximum oven temperature for glass lid?
A shopper on Mar 4, 2014
BEST ANSWER: The glass lid is oven safe up to 500 degrees.
I'm looking for a pan that I can use in the oven not sure this is what I want. i'm a little confused a response says glass lid is safe up to 500 degrees. However below response it says reply is inaccurate. Can this kid be used safely in the oven? Up to 500 degrees. Thanks
A shopper on Feb 16, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Staub's website says this lid is oven safe to 500 degrees. I've not used it in the oven yet but would go with what the manufacturer says. Just as an aside, I've found that the best thing to clean the interior of these pans is Barkeeper's Friend. Sometimes starchy foods leave a stain that is easy to remove this way and it is what Staub recommends to use.
I want to know if you can get the color ""Le Mir"" anymore in the Staub collection
A shopper on Feb 18, 2014
BEST ANSWER: Staub La Mer has been discontinued and is no longer available.
how would you compare to staub steam griddle
A shopper on Apr 30, 2017
Staub Perfect Pan, 4.5 qt.
Staub Perfect Pan, 4.5 qt.
Staub Steam Griddle, 12
Staub Steam Griddle, 12"
BEST ANSWER: These are very comparable as they're made of the same material, but the Steam Griddle is shallow with a flat surface. It's meant for pan frying while the Perfect Pan is meant more for one pot meals.
What is the width of the bottom of this pan? I have a 12" induction element, so I want to be sure before buying. Is it 12" on the bottom, or very narrow like a wok?
Michelle R on Jul 2, 2015
BEST ANSWER: It's just a touch over 6 inches.
I have the Staub Perfect Pan. I wonder if I need a separate wok. What would be the main difference between the Staub Perfect Pan and the Scanpan ProIQ wok?
Tracy H on Dec 16, 2015
Staub Perfect Pan, 4.5 qt.
Staub Perfect Pan, 4.5 qt.
Scanpan Pro IQ Wok
Scanpan Pro IQ Wok
BEST ANSWER: The only real difference is that the Scanpan Pro has a rounded bottom whereas the Staub Perfect Pan has a flat bottom. Don't know what you're trying to cook, but I would say that you don't need another pan.
What colors are available?

No option to select a color.
A shopper on Feb 10, 2014
BEST ANSWER: This pan is available in Black, Marin & Grenadine. They are each listed individually on the website
Can the Perfect Pan be used on a Glass top stove?
A shopper on Feb 28, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Yes. It works on all heat sources. That said, It is heavy and I would use care not to drop or slam it down on your cooktop. It is a fantastic pan, my favorite now. The bottom is also enamel. The interior does not need seasoning and it cleans easily. It browns beautifully, and with the sloped sides, you can more evenly brown things like potatoes for hash, or meats, as the sides increase the cooking surface. I have the red color and it is gorgeous.
Is the handle of this pan getting hot during cooking?
A shopper on Jul 24, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Yes. The beauty of cast iron cookware is that it provides an even heat to the food, the downside is that the whole pan will get hot and take a little longer to cool down. The heat issue is not a deal-breaker, and we prefer to use our cast iron cookware whenever possible.
Can you use this pan on glass cooktop? Staub 3.5 qt perfect pan
A shopper on Mar 3, 2019
BEST ANSWER: From the research I have done before purchasing this pan, yes, the pan can be used on a glass cooktop. I also have a glass cooktop and was worried about damaging the cooktop. You must be careful to not slide the appliance across the cooktop, lift and place, only, or you may scratch the cooktop. Good rule to follow with any pot or pan on a cooktop.
The weight of the pan is not addressed in reviews or specifications ?
Jones B on Feb 9, 2019
BEST ANSWER: I just weighed mine (purchased end of Jan): without lid 6 pounds 10.25 ounces, with lid 8 pounds 8.75 ounces. Check the sizes carefully. I love this pan! It was a bit larger than I expected, but is working very well for me. I have a Lodge 11 inch cast iron fry pan which weighs slightly less, but feels heavier because I lift with one handle vs this pan with 2 handles.
Do I have to use fat/oil when cooking foods such as scrambled eggs?
A shopper on Jan 3, 2019
BEST ANSWER: We have never tried cooking eggs in this pan. However, given that the cast iron inside the pan is coated, would strongly recommend using oil/fat whenever cooking with this pan. We have always done this and have never had any problem with cleanup and the pan is still in pristine shape after several years of heavy use.
How heavy is this pan?
Geneva A on Feb 24, 2019
BEST ANSWER: It’s as heave as LevCruiset pans. But it is a dream to cook with. Stays on the burner and very evenly distributed the heat. Cleans up very easily. It’s like driving a Mercedes Benz , does everything perfectly without complaint. We love it.
How much does this pan weigh?
A shopper on Feb 9, 2019
BEST ANSWER: I don't know the exact weight but it is easy to use and handle. We were worried as well because of how heavy the skillets and dutch ovens weigh. But this isn't in those categories.
Can I purchase just the wire rack that fits inside the perfect pan?
Suzanne M on Jan 20, 2019
BEST ANSWER: You can purchase that rack many places. The pan is wonderful. I have had mine for 2 weeks and already know I will cherish it. Stir frying and brownining meats are simple and direct. Staub makes a beautiful product. This is my 2nd piece the French oven one year ago and it is my go to piece. Now I think this piece will be my piece for simple things. If you are just wanting that wire rack try kitchen and company
Staub Essential Oven, 3.75 qt.
Staub Essential Oven, 3.75 qt.
Needing to replace my stainless steel cookware, and I'm rethinking the way I cook. I normally use my stainless steel 3.5 qt saute to brown groundTurkey, sometimes I add squash and carrots with some bone broth for some savory flavor. I've also used the same saute to poach salmon in lemon slices and white wine/water. Would this perfect pan work for this type of cooking or should I stick to stainless steel?
Deniese H on Jan 18, 2019
BEST ANSWER: We use our perfect pan for just about everything, the enameled cast iron works great for all cooking types...and doesn't leach anything into the food. When on sale, the Staub Perfect Pan is an excellent value
Such a cool pan! Seem very versatile. I would like to be able to use it to braise stews, slow cook in the oven, will it work or am I better off with a more traditional Dutch Oven?
A shopper on May 18, 2017
BEST ANSWER: If your primary need is for braising, I would recommend getting the Staub Braiser. The Perfect Pan is a great all-around cast iron pan but is does have a smaller heating surface area. Shaped more like a Chef's Pan or a wide wok.
How heavy is it?
A shopper on Feb 24, 2019
BEST ANSWER: I haven't weighed it but it is enameled/coated cast iron, so it's got lots of heft. Good for its cooking qualities; not quite as delightful for moving it around. I think it's great, though!
Other than the size differences, can anyone tell me the difference between the Staub Perfect Pan 4.5 qt. and the Staub Heritage All Day Pan 3.5 qt?
G J on Feb 8, 2019
BEST ANSWER: The Perfect Pan is more like a wok, and plus has all the versatility as the All Day Pan. Since I was aiming for a heavy wok without needing to season each time compared to the traditional Chinese steel wok. It even fits perfectly w bamboo steamers. It's deeper, so tossing & deep frying doesn't splatter/spill as an All Day Pan. The lid has a stainless rim & lighter glass, the All Day Pan has a heavy Pyrex heavy weight glass & doesn't fit as snugly. I enjoy my Staub Perfect Pan, that I had purchased for all my siblings...6 all together! Hope this helps.
Does the Scapan Glass Lid 12.25" fit on the Staub Grenadine Perfect Pan, 4.5 qt?
James B on Mar 21, 2015
BEST ANSWER: My staub pan came with a lid...
Can a person use metal cooking utensils in this pan?
Rhonda on Oct 24, 2014
BEST ANSWER: I try to use the wooden tools whenever possible, but I have used metal ones as well. I have never noticed any damage to the surface of any of my three Staub pans.
Can the lid go in the oven?
A shopper on Apr 1, 2019
BEST ANSWER: I’m not sure. I would head over to the Staub website. If info is not there, call customer service as they are very friendly and helpful.
Can this be used on a glass or ceramic stovetop?
A shopper on Jan 3, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Yes, we use it on a Miele ceramic cooktop all the time, BUT you don't want to slide it around or it may scratch the surface.
I use this pan for almost everything and am generally impressed. However, the interior of my pan appears to be staining and/or has a slight buildup of 'baked-on' goodness. While cooking food seems to stick to these areas. I am not positive to remove this. I have tried scrubbing...but not too hard as I do not want to damage the interior coating but it seems odd considering the surface should be non-stick. Thoughts/suggestions?
Chris C on Nov 13, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I personally haven't had the problem you describe. I generally soak the cooking surface before cleaning and put a coating of canola oil back on after cleaning and drying the surface. The pans seem to need re-seasoning if you use soapy water, which I do, as well as sufficient oil or moisture while cooking. By not setting the heat too high, it further helps to keep food from sticking. I hope that helps, but if not, I'd contact the manufacturer.
Can you use this in hight heat on stove top? Chinese stir-fry requires really hot oil and non-stick pan cannot handle that. I am not sure if this can or cannot.
Jean H on Mar 16, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Yes, it's enameled cast iron, meant for spreading and holding high heat. This doesn't have the silicon-type nonstick coating that you are talking about. It's nonstick more in the way that well-seasoned cast iron is nonstick. It's great because it really works on any type of stove top: gas, electric, glass flat-top, magnetic.
