Love the storage jar
This is a gift. But its just what my new son in law wanted. He is currently using old beans, but they are starting to smell "burnt". He will be both surprised and happy since they come in their own storage jar.

Pie weights
Excellent quality, sufficient for a 9 inch crust, in a sturdy storage container. Highly recommended.

Good product but not enough for two 9in pies as per description
Bought these this past week end. On the lid there is a notice that these pebbles are enough for two 9in pie crusts.

I found this not correct as there are only enough for one 9in pie. I will bring back to the store to verify if my jar was only half empty.

Easy as pie
These work.
They do the job.
Easy clean up, I just soak mine.
Then leave out to dry.
Handy item in kitchen.

Beats using beans
I use mine frequently over crumbled parchment paper but have never washed them (since they don't touch anything but paper) and bought more for gifts - so handy. Were I to wash them, not likely, but would dry them on Silpat in oven.

Love these
My mom used these and now I have them from my wedding registry. Love them. Just be careful not to drop them when putting them away because they'll get lost.

They smell disgusting
After I used the pie weights for the first time, I hand washed them and air-dried them before putting them back in the jar. When I took them out a few months later to use again, they smelled DISGUSTING. Like a combination of mildew and wet ceramic. I hand-washed them again and even put them in a laundry bag and put it in the dishwasher (top rack) but the smell won't go away...

Weights will let you bake a crust empty so the crust will not be soggy when you bake your ingredients inside
LINDA F on Apr 1, 2019
I've used beans and rice as weights in the past. Decided I was a grownup and could use a product designed specifically for blind baking. Love that it has a storage container for product.
Sherry S on Mar 2, 2019
I love to cook pies, and I have never had a good way to blind bake a shell. After watching The Great British Baking Show, I knew that I needed pie weights. You all are one of the few places I can find that carries them year round....so, I was sold! :-)
Jeremy S on Jan 27, 2019
Besides the need for baking weights, i liked the container and quality.
Craig F on Jan 18, 2019
I was using a metal chain that was supposed to serve this purpose. Even with two of them, they didn't cover the surface of the pie. I didn't want to use beans so I decided to give these a try.
Richard F on Dec 16, 2018
Have used them and they are great. Also love the fact they come in a nice container.

To blind bake pie crusts
David O on Oct 27, 2018
My son in law does a lot of cooking. He currently uses/re-uses rice when blind baking his pie shells. I saw these ceramic pie weights with the old style mason jar and thought he would love these. The mason jar storage container was what sold me. I love mason jars and use them for all kinds of storage in my kitchen. I know my son in law will love these.

Are these made in China?
A shopper on Nov 20, 2011
BEST ANSWER: These are made in Taiwan and are held to the highest standards of quality and safety.
Are there enough weights to stack up the sides high enough to keep the sides of the pie shell from slipping down?
Karen M R on Dec 14, 2014
BEST ANSWER: Yes, there should be enough to stack them if need be.
How many weights are in a jar? I want to use for individual tarts and need to know how many per jar to calculate the number of jars needed. Thanks.
Stephanie S on Dec 3, 2014
BEST ANSWER: This jar has approximately 400 weights in it.
How do you clean these?
A shopper on Dec 25, 2014
BEST ANSWER: I rinsed them in a colander and air dried them before putting them back in the container
When using pie weights when do I remove them?
A shopper on Dec 13, 2014
BEST ANSWER: You can remove the pie weights after the pie crust is fully baked before adding the filling. You can either let them cool before removing them or take them out as soon as the crust comes out of the oven.
how many pie shells are they good for?
A shopper on Feb 13, 2017
BEST ANSWER: You might be able to use them with two smaller-sized shells or one larger one, if I understand your question correctly. They need to cover the bottom fairly solidly to be effective.
How heavy are they? Bought bearings on string and they are too light!!
A shopper on May 11, 2019
BEST ANSWER: I’m happy with them. They don’t move around too much. I kinda wish there was about 10-20% more of them but overall they’re still the best I’ve found
Are these pure enamel and clay?
A shopper on Feb 21, 2018
BEST ANSWER: As a chemist, I’m not sure. Advertised as ceramic, but they pick up volatiles. This may be b/c they are not glazed. I use them all the time though. Wash them. Let them air dry for a day & pack them into their jar
How do you eliminate the smell? Mine were dry when stored, but they seemed to pick up a smell like rancid oil while baking pie crusts. The smell is so bad that I plan to throw away if I can’t get rid of the smell. Have boiled with baking soda twice, and doesn’t help.
A shopper on Dec 26, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I have the same problem. I have not found a way to eliminate this. I was going to try and boil in vinegar, but
I haven't had the chance yet, might help.
