Awesome
Best teakettle yet. No rusting, it whistles, and keeps water hot for a long time. Must use a hot pad for the handle!

Love this and highly recommend.
Heats the water in half the time. Only complaint is that the cover for the stout sometimes does not stay open and takes two hands to work.

A bit too loud
I love All Clad. Have used pots and pans for years. But this tea kettle - is really big. And, it's really loud. From the moment it's over the gas stove, to when it whistles. You can hear it.
I returned it.

Beautiful and sturdy
After going through many flimsy tea kettles, I had high expectations for this model by All-Clad and I wasn't disappointed. The tea kettle is a solid piece of stainless steel workmanship with a lifetime guarantee. It's shiny with a contemporary design that looks great on my stovetop. No leaks, no rust (so far, and hopefully none in the future), a mild sounding whistle. It's not heavy for me but it's not light either and could be difficult for an elderly or frail person to lift when it is filled with water.

Returned after first use
After cleaning I put the kettle on my gas stovetop and instantly noticed vapor condensing around the bottom of the kettle, like it was coming out of the bottom to sidewall seams. Then I started hearing popping sounds (which is what my last kettle started doing after 10 years of use and the bottom deformed). Popping sounds also heard when it cooled. Tried again the next day with same results. This is not manufactured correctly. Will not be buying anything All Clad that is made in China.

Nice kettle, quiet whistle
Tea kettle looks sharp and pours well. The whistle is quieter than I am used to, so I have to remember to not go too far when it's on. Otherwise it's a great item.

I love all clad and i needed a new tea kettle and all the reviews were in favor of this item
MARE1968 on Nov 15, 2018
I'm hoping this is high quality lasting a long time, large in size as the reviews and specifications have said, and made from an inert material that will not affect water quality.
Shahrzad G on Nov 13, 2018
I thought that the style is beautiful and it will look wonderful on my stovetop as an accent piece. While stainless steel takes longer to heat, I like how easy it is to clean.
Kelly D on Nov 12, 2018
The design fits in well with my kitchen and, hopefully, the quality of this item is consistent with the other All-Clad pieces I own. All-clad "cleans up" very well and always looks like new.

I purchased an identical All Clad Tea Kettle one year ago from Sur La Table here in San Francisco (Union Street). I have liked it very much and use it constantly. My daughter admired it, used it, liked it, so I purchased this one for her. You simply cannot top the quality of All Clad.

Marie y on Apr 27, 2019
The full story portion of the description says " Today, this revolutionary cookware is still made in Canonsburg, Pennsylvania—the same way it was four decades ago. All-Clad is the only bonded cookware manufacturer to use American craftsmen and American-made metals to produce a complete line of first-rate bonded cookware" . But yet it lists this tea kettle as being made in China under the description? I find this very misleading. Why is it presented this way?
A shopper on Sep 1, 2014
BEST ANSWER: This is an oversight that needs to be fixed. AllClad Cookware is made in Pennsylvania & this is the description used on the cookware product pages. I imagine it was mistakenly added to this kettle because it too is an AllClad product. Thank you for bringing this to our attention.
My questions: Do you have any stainless steel teapots made in the USA? I see the answer below, but why haven't you fixed information on website? Was this really made in China?
A shopper on Dec 9, 2014
BEST ANSWER: At this time we don't have any pots made in the USA.
Two questions: first, does the lid fit snugly? I don't want it to fall off when I pour. Second: does the handle get too hot to touch with the bare hand? In other words, do I need to use a potholder, etc every time I make tea?
Mary Jane B on Nov 17, 2014
BEST ANSWER: The lid is very tight fitting & the handles do get hot to the touch. You will need a pot holder.
Was the tea kettle always made in China?
A shopper on Jul 30, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I don't know if it always was, but it has been for at least the past few years. I've been looking for that perfect stainless steel not-made-in-China tea kettle, and have yet to find it.
Can I leave water in the kettle?
A shopper on Nov 3, 2014
BEST ANSWER: I tend to empty my kettle once the water and the kettle itself have cooled down. I have forgotten to do so once or twice and have seen no ill effects as a result, but in an effort to reduce the need to clean the inside I would rather empty it out and wipe down after use.
Will this work on an induction burner?
Janet M on Mar 5, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I have an induction burner, and one of the reasons I bought this teakettle was because it works well on it.
I have hard water and it ruins the inside of the pot. Is there any pot that can help that and still make good tea?
A shopper on Feb 9, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Clean inside of pot using calcium remover CLR once a month.
As the handle looks like it is all stainless steel, I am wondering if it gets hot as does the lever to open the spout?
A shopper on Mar 4, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Yes! The handle does get hot!! At the very least I use a tea towel to handle the lid and if I let the water boil for a longer period of time, a pot holder is needed.
What is it lined with?
A shopper on Jan 1, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Stainless steel throughout. Bought mine a year ago, still looks good as new. Very well worth the money.
Where is this tea kettle made?
A shopper on Oct 23, 2017
BEST ANSWER: It is made in China.
Does the spout open manually and will it stay open without having to to be held open for pouring? Does the spout pour with out spitting hot water?
A shopper on Sep 7, 2015
BEST ANSWER: - Spout opens manually
- Spout stays in open or closed position by itself
- Some spitting will occur if the user attempts to pour immediately after taking kettle off heat when water is at a full boil; this is just chemistry, as water will boil as it contacts the hot wall of the kettle on its way to the spout; a brief pause of a few seconds after lifting the kettle, allowing the temperature to drop slightly, is sufficient to make the extent of this effect negligible.

I have been very pleased with this kettle, and I use it almost daily. Water boils quickly, and it continues to look good with a reasonable amount of attention. If you remove it from the heat as soon as it whistles, the handle is cool enough to be touched with a bare hand, but if it's left on the heat much longer, the handle will get too hot to touch without protection of some sort.
Can the inner surface get rusty overtime?
A shopper on Nov 26, 2018
BEST ANSWER: This is the most beautiful kettle. Of course, you must be careful about heat in the handle, which is fine with me. I am Very happy with this product. There is nothing to worry about if you are worried about rust, my kettle looks as beautiful as the day I received it from Sur La Table. I heat water on my cook stove as well as my wood stove, I have had this kettle for over two years and use it daily, I highly recommend this kettle
Does the handle get hot?
A shopper on Jun 24, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Yes. It's not a big deal for us because we're usually only making a single chemex pot at a time, but occasionally I do use a hand towel with the kettle. If you were frequently boiling a larger amount of water or making successive batches you would definitely need to use insulation with it.
Can fix the kettle so it won't whistle?
A shopper on Jul 31, 2017
BEST ANSWER: When I don't want to be loudly notified of a boil, I just flip open the whistler on the spout (same way I would to pour out the water). It will stay up, and then the kettle simmers silently. I've also noticed if the lid is not properly seated, the kettle won't whistle -- it needs that seal to produce the whistle. Actually, the whistle is not obnoxiously shrill like some others I've had. But if you leave it on the wood stove (as I do), you don't want a continuous noise, and that's not a problem with this kettle.
I the handle flexible?
A shopper on Nov 28, 2017
BEST ANSWER: No, it’s not. But it’s a great teakettle. Mine has lasted for years and still looks and works great.
Regarding the All-Clad Teakettle (SKU:1551530, currently listed for $99.95), your specification section indicates this teakettle is made of Stainless Steel AND Aluminum. Exactly what part of this item is comprised of Aluminum? In my kitchen, I don't want to use any components that have exposed aluminum.
gene w on Feb 25, 2019
BEST ANSWER: I have a few of these kettles because I had trouble finding anything else that meets my needs. The inside of the pot is stainless steel. The concern for me is about how the two parts( the bottom which has alumium sandwiched with steel so can use it on an induction cooktop and the stainless steel top are put together. I am afraid given how much I make tea I am exposing myself to something...I am not a scientist so cannot offer clarity. The description says kettle is not reactive but not to store water in it. Hmmm. To be safe buy a heat safe glass carafe if you have a gas or non induction electric stove and are not clumsy.
Can I prevent it from whistling?
A shopper on Feb 16, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I can prevent whistling easily on my kette by leaving the spout cover up.
Has anyone used this tea kettle on a gas stove and, if so, does it ruin the bottom?
Janessa O on Dec 15, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I have the tea kettle and use it with a gas stove almost daily. It does show minimal wear after a year in use, but the bottom is not ruined.
Hope this helps:)
where is the aluminum?
yuan y on Oct 29, 2015
BEST ANSWER: sandwiched between two layers of steel in the bottom
