Money well spent and you have no reason to not have fresh ground coffee anymore.
Good morning.....I purchased this burr grinder a couple weeks ago and ran out of beans about 10 days ago. We had a can of Maxwell house that the wife bought rather than wait for me to get some beans. She is not a coffee aficionado I am. I love the entire ritual that starts with the grinding of the beans, the aroma and the the anticipation of that first cup....kinda like a fiend needing a fix. Anyhoo....my temporary sideline from my morning ritual has made me really appreciate this Hario Slim grinder. It grinds your beans quickly, it has several settings for your desired grind and is small enough that you can pack it with you so you never have to settle for Wolfgang Puck coffee again (I stayed for a night and had some of that) Horrid. It has an acrylic bin to hold your freshly ground beans and the static does make some "dust" cling to the acrylic but the burrs are ceramic and I think it is money well spent. If you'll excuse me I have a cup o' Joe that needs to be savoured. Cheers!

Great Small Grinder
I bought this grinder to do double duty as an everyday hand grinder and as a travel grinder. My daily coffee bean needs are about 3 cups, so this is a nice little grinder to get the job done, and fits into my morning french press ritual. The top hopper and burr grinder is easy to take apart and put back together for full cleaning when needed. It is small and light, and great for travel and car camping. I wish the clear bottom was made of glass, but the plastic has held up well for over a year so far with no visible cracking, but I only hand wash the clear part.

I'm interested in trying a burr grinder, and I have a few other Hario coffee items. I have an electric blade grinder, which is okay, but I like the idea of the crank.

Slimmer version of a hand grinder that has great reviews for fine, consistent grind. I look forward to trying it.

Working on taking baby steps towards a burr grinder rather than the rotating (not sure if that's what they're called) grinders. I think this would be nice also to have fresh ground coffee on camping trips and etc...

Are the clear parts glass or plastic? If plastic, BPA/BPB-free?
A shopper on Jul 31, 2016
BEST ANSWER: The clear bottom part is NOT glass. It is plastic, listed as Methacrylate resin in the instruction manual materials guide. I was greatly disappointed to find out it was plastic when it arrived. The black hopper is polypropylene, as are the knobs on the grind handle. Metal parts are stainless steel, and the other fittings are nylon.
Can it be used to grind almonds?
Arista S on Oct 7, 2018
BEST ANSWER: It might be difficult to grind whole almonds as the spacing between the rotating ceramic burr and the non rotating outer ceramic is about coffee bean sized. If an oval shaped almond fell into the hopper crosswise to the slot, or if the almonds are large, they might not fall into the grinding chamber. Even with coffee beans, I often have to shake the grinder mid grind to reorient the beans such that they continue to fall into the grinding chamber. I have never tried grinding anything other than coffee beans in my grinder so I can't say for sure it would not work with almonds, but it doesn't look like it would be the best choice for grinding almonds. I hope that helps.
