Handy item
This is so much easier than trying to cover the pie crust edges with pieces of aluminum foil as I had been doing. I’m glad I purchased.

Clever way to bake a pie and not burn the crust top
The adjustable silicone pie shield really works. Most of the time when I bake a pie, the crust top would be burnt and baked hard. The adjustable shield prevents the burnt crust and is adjustable to handle different size pie baking dishes.

A pie makers necessity.
The days of awkward homemade aluminum foil crust protectors that fall into my pies are over! Not sure why I waited so long to get one of these. If you bake pies... ever... get one. Takes up very little space and makes my crusts happy.

worked perfectly
I just bought it used it for the first time for a pecan pie. I was a bit nervous as the instructions said to put it on for the entire baking time and was afraid crust would not brown, but it did. I definitely recommend this product, much better than strips of tinfoil.

Great concept
This works great on keeping the edges free from burning. Downside, it's flipping to hot to remove with bare fingers. Use protective gear.

I did not like this at all. It did not prevent my crust from darkening. I would have been better just lining my crust with aluminum foil.

Perfect Crust Protector
I made several pies and tested the Silicone Crust Protector. I was worried about leaving it on the entire time. As it turned out the crust browned perfectly with it on the entire cooking time.

Janet A on Jun 11, 2019
does this squish down a fluted edge if you put it on before baking pie?
A shopper on Feb 23, 2019
BEST ANSWER: I did not find that it affected the shape of the dough. I doesn't have to be pinched on as you might with foil....it's effective if it's just lightly set on top. You could also bake the pie a bit to firm up the crust, then put on the shield to keep the edge from over-browning.
I used the Hot Dish adjustable pie shield on my apple pie and my crust really burnt and the crust even split why?
A shopper on Dec 24, 2018
BEST ANSWER: It's possible that your oven temp actually runs hotter than your setting, or the cooking time was bit too long. An inexpensive oven thermometer will show if the temp is accurate. Sometimes the crust can crack if the shortening is not cut into the dry ingredients thoroughly enough.
