Description

ECO-FRIENDLY The eco-friendly, natural wood fiber in Epicurean cutting boards has more than 60 years of history in an array of practical applications. Originally used in aerospace when introduced in the 1950s, in the 1960s it was developed for cutting and food prep surfaces in commercial kitchens all over the US.

Remarkable material is non-porous and certified by the Forest Stewardship Council and the National Sanitary Foundation. It’s easy to clean and will not harbor bacteria. Boards develop a richer color with use. As the boards are heat resistant to 350°F, you can use them as trivets without leaving a blemish. Unlike wood and bamboo, these can be cleaned in the dishwasher. All Epicurean products are responsibly made in Duluth, Minnesota, USA.

If only it did not slip around so much
This is a nice surface for cutting and easy to clean. But to prevent it from slipping on the counter I have to lay it on top of a silicone pot holder. This does the trick but would much prefer that it stabilized on its own.

I have two of these boards one is a smaller one for cutting lemons/limes etc that i have had for years and still looks great. I just got the 11x14 one for bigger jobs. I like the fact you can throw them in the dishwasher. I recommend these cutting boards!

They wrap and no longer sit flat on the counter top.
After a few months of use they have become concave and it can be spun on the counter top.

Suggest to buy the one with bumpers so it can stay on the counter top.

Love these boards
The Epicurean brand cutting boards are sturdy and useful. They also come in different sizes which is convenient. Made in the USA, they provide a quality cutting surface and I constantly reach for any one of the several sizes that I have.

I have heard very positive comments about the Epicurean Cutting Boards and like that they are easily cleaned in the dishwasher and even better they will not harm my knife investment. I am keeping a couple and giving the others as gifts and feel very confident in their becoming a go-to kitchen helper. I must add, Sur la Table is very reliable and cares about their customers. I feel they will sell only the best kitchen products. They stand behind everything they sell.

A small cutting board is great for cutting and serving fresh herbs, like cilantro. My wife and I love to cut up herbs, lemon, or tomatoes on small cutting boards and then use the board is a pseudo serving platter for casual dinners.

Has anyone noticed an ammonia smell when wet?
A shopper on Nov 23, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I have never noticed any smell through frequent use.
I own this cutting board and it is great except for the fact that it slides around on my counter while I am cutting. Has anyone found a way to keep the board stationary? Other cutting boards I have used in the past have plastic grippers on the bottom that prevent movement while cutting.
A shopper on Mar 14, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Try putting a slightly damp kitchen rag or towel flat under the cutting board. Hope this helps!
Does this board need to be seasoned?
Ess Jay on Dec 8, 2018
BEST ANSWER: We have a number of these cutting boards and have not "seasoned" any of them to date and they seem to still be nearly like new. I do note that they do show a very minor lightening of color but it does not affect their utility. We usually just hand wash with dish soap, but also run them through the dishwasher and still see no issues. Epicurean does not mention using an oil on their website so I don't think one should "season" these.
is the cutting board microwave safe?
A shopper on Feb 8, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Yes, definitely!
Is it normal that they become concave and spin on the counter top?

I own 4 boards. The first two I bought are fine but the second two that I bought at a later time spin so much because they concave
Carmina L on Apr 26, 2019
BEST ANSWER: I have 3 different sized Epicurean cutting boards and none have exhibited that characteristic. I use them almost daily and I put them in the dishwasher.
Does this board have a well aroud the edge on one side?
A shopper on Dec 10, 2014
BEST ANSWER: I bought the smallest and medium sized one recently, and both of these did NOT have a well, as I had hoped. I Years ago (at a different store) I had purchased the largest one which had a well surrounding the board; by the pictures, it does not appear that these are the same kind.
mine got deep cut marks from a bread knife. can i sand the surface?
A shopper on Jan 18, 2018
BEST ANSWER: These boards are knife friendly, so it is normal for knife marks to form from use. You may use fine 220 grit sandpaper to blend out the marks, but they will not disappear completely.
What is this made of? Description says "wood fiber".
A shopper on May 5, 2017
BEST ANSWER: This information is proprietary. Here is the information the manufacturer does share regarding these boards:

-Dishwasher Safe
-Dual-sided
-Eco Friendly
-Heat Resistant to 350°
-Knife Friendly
-Made in the USA
my board has developed small gray spots. They look like mold. Anyone know about this?
Jane Jon Emma P on Sep 28, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I’ve had mine for many years without such a problem.
