ZAVOR!
I have been cooking with pressure cookers for many years and have owned 6 different models. I purchased the Zavor after learning it was chosen as the top pressure cooker by Cooks Illustrated equipment review.
It was all the bells and whistles and an intuitive screen which is easy to program. It has performed perfectly and has been a pleasure to use. I highly recommend the 8 quart LUX LCD Multicooker!!

This is my first experience with a multi cooker, so I can't compare this one to others. I will start by saying that the pot browns nicely and handles carnitas well. Korean style spare ribs came out incredibly tough, but I'm sure we'll get the hang of cooking times and that will help. The pot seems fairly user friendly and controls are intuitive.
The pot does have two flaws as far as I'm concerned. One is the lid, which I don't entirely trust on the pressure cook setting. There is no satisfying "click" when the pin slots into place, and no failsafe. As far as peace of mind is concerned, I'd prefer an obvious exterior locking mechanism like there is on my pressure canner. Also, the lid absorbs and holds smells like you wouldn't believe. Yes, I remove the gasket after use and wash it. No, it doesn't help. The second issue I've had is with the first part of the yogurt process. I figured I'd save time, energy, and dishes by following the instructions for "making yogurt in glass jars", but even after running the "heat" cycle on the yogurt setting FIVE times, my milk had not yet reached 185*F. I wound up just heating it in a pan on the stove, which took less than 5 minutes. The incubation setting worked perfectly, however, and I will definitely be using the pot for this part of the process in the future, as it takes all of the variables out of making yogurt at home.
In all, it seems to do some of what is says it does really well, but not everything. Trying bone broth next- fingers crossed!

The predecessor for this multicooker was the Fagor Lux LCD Multicooker and rated recommended by Cook's Illustrated's website. Fagor appears to have gone out of business and resurrected itself as Zavor. I hope that the new corporate branding and restart has not affected the quality of the product.

Are the accessories available for the Zavor Lux LCD the same as what was available for the Fagor Lux LCD that I had purchased earlier in the year? Do you know if the two models are identical or if there were some design changes implemented to the Zavor?
A shopper on Oct 31, 2018
BEST ANSWER: "....the lids on the Lux and the LCD have an additional metal brace that keeps the gasket in place. Otherwise, the Lux is essentially the same pot with a different brand name slapped on the front; it cooks well and is easy to use. The Lux LCD was tweaked a bit more. It has a new function, called Flex, which allows you to set a temperature and use the multicooker like you would a pot on the stove. " - America's Test Kitchen
Is this a newer version of the FAGOR with a new name and owner?
A shopper on Oct 20, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Zavor is the inspired creation of the team behind Fagor America. After closing its doors, the minds behind the top pressure cooker brand in the country put all their efforts into continuing the product line on their own terms, enter Zavor.
I am trying to find a glass lid to use with my new Zavor LUX 8qt. Anyone found one you like?
Mary M on Feb 11, 2019
BEST ANSWER: I ordered a universal multi-size-in- one from Amazon. It works great for the slow cooker function. And I can use it on other pans also. Details: Modern Innovations Elegant Stainless Steel and Glass Universal Lid, Fits All 7" to 12" Pots and Pans, Replacement Frying Pan Cover and Cookware Lids
There’s a lot of recipes online for the Instant Pot. I just got a Zavor 8 qt. Multi-Cooker for Christmas. Can those recipes be used in the Zavor?
