All-Clad Slow Cooker 6.5 qt.
I have had the 4 qt. slow cooker for a few years and really like it a lot; however, it is too small to make large batches of soup. (I have recommended this slow cooker to a number of my friends and 2 of them have purchased it.) I am using the 6.5 qt. today for the first time and, like the 4 qt., Iike it a lot. I would highly recommend the All-Clad Slow Cooker.

meat is tough and cooked twice as long
I cooked a small roast. It took 8 hours to cook and was tough and not worth eating. The same size roast in my old slow cooker at 4 hours at the meat was wonderful and falling apart. I returned mine.

Not worth the money.
I cooked a rib roast all night in the cooker and it was still completely raw in most of the inside. Returned it.

I am enjoying my new slow cooker. Have used it 3 times in the past two weeks! Would like to be able to set it for an hour or less as some recipes call for that either in the beginning or at the end. Otherwise I am very satisfied with the purchase and would recommend it to my friends

Great Appliance
We've had our slow-cooker for two years and love the features and size. Only issue we've noticed is that the insert seems to have developed some spotting or staining that things stick to.

Replacing one that was given to me a while back as a gift by a dear friend. Worked wonderfully until today when it stopped heating! Slow cooker is over 10 years old & it got A LOT of use. The sad part is that the person who gave it to me is no longer alive and the cookware has become a sentimental piece over the years. Lots of great food cooked!!!

So the ceramic insert is made in do I know it does not contain lead? Are the other components made in China too?
Roseann D on Aug 27, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Yes, the other components are also made in China. All items that potentially contain lead are labeled with the Prop 65 warning on the website.
Why did SLT advertise this as a ""staff favorite"" when so many reviews online and even one review on SLT point to defects in the ceramic insert

Has this defect since been corrected such that SLT believes this to be a superior product now?I don't want to buy a product to last a year only, and both the warranty from AllClad and the SLT return policy only allow 1 year
A shopper on Feb 1, 2014
BEST ANSWER: This slow cooker is listed as a staff favorite because it has been given a 5 star review by a member of the SLT staff that owns and enjoys it
Does the programable function have a ""delayed"" start time feature
A shopper on Feb 18, 2011
Please see my qustions below?

What is the quart capacity? Can I remove the insert and brown or sear meat in it on my cooktop prior to the slow cooking stage?Or does this allow for searing and browning within the slow cooker?Does this have a roast option?Thank you
A shopper on Aug 14, 2011
BEST ANSWER: The capacity is 6½ qt.
The longest cooking time available on any slow cooker is 26 hours.
The ceramic insert is not recommended for browning or stovetop use.
Programmable timer has three cooking settings to suit the requirements of any dish. (high/low/warm-no roast option)
I've had my 6.5 at. slow cooker for 2 yrs. I noticed a hairline crack in the insert that just happened. Where can I get a new one? And are they still made in China? I've been very careful with cleaning it and it should last a lot longer for such a nice product.
A shopper on Feb 9, 2016
can I order a replacment ceramic insert?
A shopper on Sep 25, 2013
BEST ANSWER: We do not sell replacement parts. It would most likely have to be purchased through AllClad.
Where are All-Clad products made?

I am interested in slow cookers made in the USA
A shopper on Dec 8, 2012
BEST ANSWER: While all the All-Clad pans are made right here outside Pittsburgh PA!! The slow cooker however is made in China.
Does the outside of the slow cooker become especially hot?
A shopper on Nov 22, 2013
BEST ANSWER: Yes, the outside of the AllClad slow cooker gets hot. I would not recommend touching it while in use
Has the cracking of the ceramic insert been corrected? The insert is now black when it was originally white. Is that to correct the crazing problem?
Janet T on Jun 21, 2015
BEST ANSWER: We have not had any cracking or crazing of the ceramic insert to date and we use it several times a week.
Can you set a timer or auto shut off for this slow cooker?
A shopper on Sep 22, 2014
BEST ANSWER: This slow cooker can be set on High from 2 to 8 hours & on Low from 4 to 20 hours. When the cooking time has completed, it will automatically switch to Warm, and will stay on this setting up to 6 hours, at which point it will shut off.
Has the defect been corrected in the ceramic insert? I know there is an aluminum insert now but heard that bubbles after a few months use. I would rather have ceramic. Thank you.
A shopper on Sep 22, 2014
BEST ANSWER: This unit does not come with an aluminum insert; it comes with a ceramic one.
Is this slow cooker lead free?
Marzena J on Mar 30, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I'd really ask the manufacturer. I use it and love this slow cooker; big and beautiful and best of all, easy to clean!
How much does the slow cooker with the insert weight?
A shopper on Jan 30, 2011
BEST ANSWER: It is a ceramic insert so it does not add that much weight...the whole unit is about 20 pounds. It is stainless steel and ceramic- so, it will heat more evenly and retain more heat than an aluminum slow cooker. Try it out
Where is this slow cooker made?
A shopper on Dec 3, 2015
BEST ANSWER: This slow cooker was made in, wait for it----Yes, in China. Where else???
I just received this new slow-cooker. Your web description claims it is able to brown meat within the unit. That was a huge selling point. Yet there's not a word about this function in the instruction book and the recipes all describe how to sear meat in a fry pan on the stove top. HELP??? How do you use it to sear meat within the unit?
A shopper on Nov 29, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I believe This model does not brown. I have only found that model available at Wiliams and Sonoma, as it is more expensive and has a different crock that is not ceramic. However, I love this model and it has been worth the investment so much that I bought another for my brother. It cooks perfect and when the cooking time is up it goes to warm automatically. Such a nice and safe feature.
Can you brown in it?
A shopper on Aug 29, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I bought my daughter an all clad slow cooker, because I absolutely love mine! However, i mistakenly bought the one with the ceramic insert. We returned it because you cannot brown food on the stove top. We then bought the one with the aluminum insert and you can absolutely brown on the stove top, then finish in slow cooker! LOVE IT!!
I bought this slow cooker a week ago by online and tried yesterday the receipt "Hearty Tuscan Beef Stew". I set the slow cooker to high, add oil and heat until the oil is shimmering as directed. It did not heat up and wait for nearly 30 min and still oil was not shimmering. It just does not get hot enough. I cooked everything by frying pan and put them in the slow cooker. I added wine as directed and cooked "high". It took nearly 30 mini to get boiling. Is it usual or my cooker is defect?
Hiroshi on Oct 6, 2014
BEST ANSWER: No, your slow cooker doesn't have a defect. I believe the recipe on our website was made for a previous model slow cooker that had a different insert. Using the slow cooker that you own, the results are likely to vary.
I am interested in buying an All-Clad slow cooker 220 Volts to use it overseas. May I order it through you?
Juan Carlos V on Jun 10, 2016

As a cancer patient, it is important that the ceramic pot is lead free. Can someone give me a direct answer--does the ceramic pot contain lead?
Thank you!
A shopper on Sep 4, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Jarden Consumer Solutions (JCS), the distributor of [the product in question] is very focused on the materials that are used in the manufacture of its products. JCS goes to great lengths to ensure that its products meet or exceed all applicable laws and regulations as well as industry standards, such as Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations. Likewise, JCS is diligent in is efforts to ensure that its products are compliant with applicable regulations regarding the presence of lead.
JCS tests for lead and other toxic metals on its products to ensure they are safe for consumers. In addition, we periodically use accredited third party lab testing to reveal that our slow cooker stoneware is far below the U.S. FDA and California Regulation Prop 65 requirements for extractable lead and cadmium in ceramic wares, thus supporting our results.
And All-Clad:
All of our slow cooker inserts are lead free. The non-stick insert is made of cast aluminum.
I have lost my instruction booklet. Can I get another one?
linda on Oct 22, 2014
How long can you program it to cook on high?

I read a review that said you couldn't program it on high for longer than 6 hours. This was a couple of years ago, and I'm wondering if they've fixed that since some people (at least the reviewers) thought this was a distinct disadvantage
A shopper on Jan 17, 2014
BEST ANSWER: This slow cooker can be programmed on high for 2 to 6 hours.
I'm interested in purchasing the All Clad Slow Cooker, but am concerned about that the reviews are inconsistent, and the warranty seems to run out right around the time that the complaints start. Is there another (more reliable) product you can recommend?
A shopper on Jan 4, 2016
BEST ANSWER: We've had the All Clad Slow Cooker for about two years and are extremely happy with the unit. It gets used often without any issues.
Are you able to sear in Creamic insert on the stove?
David C on Aug 28, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Not sure what you mean about on the stove but you can sear meat in the actual slow cooker. It takes a little longer than normal but only requires one thing to clean. I wouldn't put the insert over open flame as I think you are asking though.
I got the all clad cooker for xmas. How do I tell if the insert is the ceramic or aluminum? There are some things you can't do with ceramic
A shopper on Dec 26, 2015
BEST ANSWER: mine states ceramic on the box.. I have the same one and love it. Don't know what you could not cook in there. The aluminum insert is coated so both are good for all foods. No reaction worries.
Can you cook Sous Vide in this crockpot?
A shopper on Nov 29, 2015
BEST ANSWER: while we haven't used this crock pot for Sous Vide there is no reason that it can't
the only issue I would see is that the crock pot doesn't circulate the water so temperatures might not be consistent through out.
what's the difference between ceramic and cast iron - is one better than the other?
Amanda F on Nov 29, 2015
BEST ANSWER: The ceramic insert in the All-Clad cannot be used on the stove-top to brown and sear meat before slow-cooking. I decided to purchase the Breville slow cooker with the die-cast aluminum insert - this is stove-top safe for searing and oven roasting. This eliminates the need to dirty another pan. i just sear my meat or brown my onions first then place insert into the slow cooker heating element and away we go, low and slow.

Does the bottom of the All-Clad Slow-Cooker (Model 99009) get hot during cooking? I'd specifically like to know if it is safe to stand it directly on a countertop (like marble or quartzite) during cooking?? Thank you.
Sandra E on Nov 27, 2015
BEST ANSWER: We place the cooker directly on granite/travertine counters tops for usage without any issue. And yes, I highly recommend the slow cooker.
Can I sear in the slow cooker itself? I can not use the insert on my cook top since it is aluminum and I have an induction cooktop.
A shopper on Jan 10, 2017
BEST ANSWER: While we've never tried to sear meats in our slow cooker, I'm not sure it's ideal for that purpose. Even on high, it won't get hot enough to create a good, quick searing, plus, I'm not sure it's good to have the insert get hot without having much in it.
