Not durable at all
It worked fine the few times I used it, but the head of the thermometer (the part that turns red when it's at the right temperature) chipped off after about 5 uses. Wouldn't recommend it.

Does not work.
Don't waste your time or money this thermometer does not work. If I depended on it (and I have) my cake comes out mushy in the middle.

This Really Works!
I love baking bundt cakes, and this handy tool takes the guesswork out of determining if the cake is done. The tip turns a deep red color when baking is finished. I haven't tried it on anything other than bundt cakes, but for that it works perfectly. A

Getting the cake done was great!!!
Through the years I have used toothpicks, skewards sticks, cake stick by OXO.
I have found that this thermometer was the BEST 100%. This object should have came out when the first bunit pan was placed on the market!!!!!

Would an instant read thermometer work just as well?
Valjeanne J on Apr 5, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Only if you know what the internal temp of a baked cake should be. The tip of this tester turns red when the cake is done.
How red should the tip get?
A shopper on Aug 5, 2017
BEST ANSWER: The ideal color appears near the base once inserted, so the tip can be compared to the done color, which is a bright red once warmed. I find it to be a very useful. When not yet ready, the tip shoes a darker red color - when done, the tip and the base match, and are a brighter color red.
Does it work for angel food cakes?
A shopper on Aug 8, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Actually, I haven't used mine--I use an instant-read thermometer with center temperature baked to 205-210 degrees for cakes and breads. I don't know why it wouldn't work for angel food (although I really don't know at what temperature the tip turns bright red).
Can bread be tested with this thermometer?
A shopper on Dec 30, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I have used it successfully with quick breads in loaf pans but I have not ever tried it with a yeast bread. Hope this helps you. Oh, by the way, it works great for cakes and the banana bread.
