Functional and pretty
I needed to replace a kettle I had been using for years, and I tried a couple that didn't work very well. This one has a handle and spout that is very comfortable to pour with and it boils quickly. I am very happy with this purchase! Oh, and the price was so reasonable! (I got 20% off)

Attractive and very functional
Bought this kettle over a year ago. I love the wide base. It covers more of the burner so you can turn the heat up a little higher, heating the water much faster. Looks great and has a nice whistle to let me know when it’s ready.

Love this kettle!
I've had this kettle for a little over a year now, and it is so nice compared to others I've had. The spout is perfect for pouring a nice steady stream instead of spattering out like others; the lid is nice and tight, the handle high enough from the lid to keep the heat off but close enough to make pouring easy, not awkward. the water heats in a reasonable amount of time, dependent on how cold it was and which burner I use (gas stove, two notches down from high). The whistle starts low but will get very insistent if you're in another room... The capacity is perfect, another feature making it easy to pour. I had to write a review because I love this tea kettle which I use many times a day, and hope it will last as long as my Revere Ware did (years and years, still use it occasionally). I think this design is much better.

Looks good but...
I love the look of the kettle, but it takes forever to boil, steam & whistle. The cap over the spout must be manually opened & I worry that someone will get a nasty burn.

Reasonably priced and perfectly designed.
Love the sleek look. Whistle is not piercing. Easy to clean because of the wide opening. Looks perfect sitting on my new stainless stove in my newly renovated kitchen!!!

design not thought out well
This teapot is somewhat difficult to use, mainly because of the design of the spout. The spout has a cap on it that must be opened to pour hot water from the kettle, and closed to keep the water inside warm. It is difficult to push on the small handle on the spout without touching the hot surface of the metal pot, and also hard to grasp that spout handle between finger and thumb. There is no way to work the spout cover from above, via the main handle. As a result, we have found that using the teapot almost always means touching a hot metal surface with bare skin. We expected better, more thoughtful design from OXO; lots of other teapots are better designed. Other than this drawback, the rest of the teapot is functional, but not as high quality or handsome as we had expected.

I like the look of it. I've purchased other ones in the past and I stop using them. I am a coffee drinker but I have friends and family who like tea. It is better than boiling the water in a saucepan - haha!!!

Good quality tea kettle.
Patricia V on Aug 13, 2017
We wanted a tea kettle with the following properties: 1. stainless steel, because our old one had rusted; 2. a whistle; 3. an insulated handle; 4. a likable design; 4. a reasonable price. There were others that had all the other characteristics, but at twice the price. I think this is a good choice.

Is this kettle okay for use on glasstop stove?
A shopper on Jun 25, 2012
BEST ANSWER: Yes, this tea kettle can be used on a glass cooktop. In fact, I have read several reviews from satisifed customers that was the reason they purchased it
Where is this product made?
A shopper on Aug 14, 2013
BEST ANSWER: This tea kettle is made in China.
Does the Oxo tea kettle spout cover stay up or must you hold it?
A shopper on Apr 3, 2015
BEST ANSWER: It stays up without holding it. It clicks from open to closed. It has a pad on it similar to the handle so you can pop it open when your water is ready to be poured even when it is boiling.
Is the inside stainless steel or silicone? I am concerned about a silcone lining.
Marlene H on Jan 10, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I believe the kettle is entirely stainless steel, although I have to admit I wouldn't exactly know what a silicone lining would look like. Better you look at it in person if you have that concern. I love this kettle.
Can I put this through the dishwasher?
A shopper on Aug 19, 2013
BEST ANSWER: Per the product description:Hand wash with warm water and dishwashing liquid. Do not use abrasive powders or steel wool. Do not place in dishwasher. Empty water after each use
Does the lid rust?

Many stainless steel kettles' lids turn rusty after few usage - would this rust?
A shopper on Apr 14, 2014
BEST ANSWER: No, it wouldn't. The high grade stainless steel protects against rust
can you use this teapot on gas stove?
A shopper on Dec 9, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Yes, I believe. I've been using mine on just such a stove since purchase in December, 2014. As far as I am aware of it, it has worked well for me.

Mary Ann T.
Is the inside of this kettle 100% stainless?
A shopper on Mar 1, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Yes, it is. I have had this kettle for a couple of years and I still love it.
Must tea kettles only be used on Medium heat? It takes forever until it whistles!
Martha on May 23, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I have a Gas Stove and use High Heat every time I need to boil water in my kettle. I do however make sure that the burner is not so high that the flames are coming up the sides of the kettle. I hope this information is helpful.
Is the kettle compatible with induction burners?
A shopper on May 22, 2018
BEST ANSWER: No, it is not induction compatible.
I don’t like whistles on teapots. Can this be disingaged?
Heather C on Nov 27, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Yes just flip up the spout top to prevent it from whistling ....
